Wildfires are increasing around the world due to higher temperatures, more arid seasons, and dry vegetation and soil. The frequency, intensity, and duration of wildfire season is increasing and contributing to health problems.

Chronic kidney disease of non-traditional cause (CKDnt) affects millions of outdoor manual workers in tropical environments. As global temperatures rise, more workers will be put at risk of CKDnt, increasingly a concern for workers also in EU and US.

Rising temperatures are contributing to the spread of vector-borne diseases such as Lyme disease, malaria, Zika virus, dengue fever. Climate change is contributing to conditions hospitable for vectors which is leading to increase in these diseases.

Early warning systems addressing health and climate change have been developed to alert communities about climate-related events that may impact their health and well-being so that they can take necessary actions or precautions.

Mobile health applications have been developed to extract local weather information, assess heat and cold stress, air quality, and provide information about the risk of forest fires.

Climate change is intensifying the frequency, intensity, and geographic reach of heatwaves and wildfires, posing threats to health. The lethal combination of rising temperatures and air pollution has led to a global rise in heat-related deaths.
